8 Reasons I’m Adding Barre to My Pilates Routine

Examining Barre Workouts

Targeting muscles with little, controlled exercises, barre combines ballet-inspired moves with light weights. I was drawn to the full-body barre routine of Trainer Britany Williams.

Equipment - Barre vs. Pilates

Unlike most Pilates programs, barre sometimes calls for weights. Emphasizing smaller muscle involvement, this exercise just required two 2kg dumbbells.

Lower Body Focus with Barre

Unlike most Pilates programs, barre sometimes calls for weights. Emphasizing smaller muscle involvement, this exercise just required two 2kg dumbbells.

Why I'll Still Make Use of Pilates

Pilates is still first choice for upper-body and core exercises. But barre is perfect for a well-rounded strength program because it has more lower body impact.

Heart Rate Increase

Barre accelerates my heart rate more than I thought with small movements. It stretches me to my limits because it combines strength and cardio in little space.

Postural and Coordinating Benefits

Posture and balance are challenged through Barre tests just like in Pilates. It is a good way to develop these abilities along with enhancing general control of the body

Perfect for Variety

Changing between barre and Pilates keeps my program interesting. For more difficult days, I now go for barre; Pilates works best when I want less intensity.

Lightweight yet Strong

Using light dumbbells reduces strain while still causing muscle tiredness. Barre has shown its ability to increase exercise intensity devoid of heavy equipment.
